George H. Kirby joined Ocean Power Technologies in January 2015 as President, Chief Executive Officer and Board Director, bringing more than 20 years of international technical, commercial and operational experience in the global power and infrastructure sectors.
Prior to joining OPT, Mr. Kirby was most recently Senior Vice President for the energy business unit at AECOM Technology Corporation, where he and his team provided full power generation and power delivery project life-cycle services in the US energy market. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Utility Services at SAIC Energy, Environment & Infrastructure working with electric utilities in the North American market. Mr. Kirby also held a variety of management positions at American Superconductor, GE Energy Financial Services, and GE Power & Water.
Mr. Kirby holds a Bachelors degree in aerospace engineering from Syracuse University and an MBA from Pennsylvania State University. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas, a certified Six Sigma Black Belt, and he holds several patents in power generation technology.
